Each summer a handful of young adults get the unique opportunity to spend a week living onboard the 1768 schooner SULTANA while exploring one of the most incredible ecosystems in North America - the Chesapeake Bay. The moment you set foot on SULTANA, you know that you are about to begin an adventure that you will never forget. The familiar routines of home and school quickly disappear, replaced instead by the unique challenges of shipboard life and the excitement of adventures shared with new friends.

Everyone who sails on SULTANA becomes part of her crew. Onboard you can look forward to standing watch, hauling halyards, tending sheets, and charting the schooner’s course as she makes her way on the Bay. Not only will you be a sailor on SULTANA, you will also be a scientist – working to understand the multiple ecosystems that compose the Chesapeake Bay.
