Sultana Projects will present its 11th Annual Gala, "Chestertown by
Candlelight" on September 20, 2008. Since the laying of the keel for
the schooner Sultana in 1998, Sultana's Gala has become an annual
highlight of the Eastern Shore social calendar while raising more than
$35,000 each year for Sultana Projects' award-winning educational
programs. "Chestertown by Candlelight" is being co-sponsored by Wye
Financial and Trust and Centreville National Bank.
Guests to "Chestertown by Candlelight" will have the exciting
opportunity to attend a small, intimate dinner at their choice of one of
Chestertown's finest private homes followed by a candlelight, champagne
and dessert reception at Washington College's historic Hynson- Ringgold
House. Among the properties featured for "Chestertown by Candlelight"
are Langford Creek Farm, a beautiful waterfront estate at the tip of
Quaker Neck that boasts a spectacular walled garden, and the 1734 Reward
Farm, one of the Eastern Shore's best preserved colonial homes. As part
of the RSVP process, guests will have an opportunity to list their order
of preference for the homes where they would like to dine. Guests will
be placed according to these preferences on a first-come-first-serve
basis.
At the conclusion of the individual dinners, all 250 dinner guests will
assemble at Washington College's Hynson-Ringgold House on the
Chestertown waterfront for a candlelight, champagne and dessert
reception. Dessert for the reception is being donated by
Magnolia
Caterers. All guests in attendance will be eligible to win a weekend
stay for two at
The Bellmoor Resort in Rehoboth, Delaware - one of the
Mid-Atlantic's finest small resort spas. The dessert reception will
feature a live auction beginning at 8:30 p.m., with opportunities for
guests to bid on a private charter for 50 onboard the Presidential Yacht
USS Sequoia, use of the fully-stocked PNC Skybox at Camden Yards for a
2009 Baltimore Orioles game, and a private dinner-cruise for six onboard
the Trumpy Yacht, "Sirius."
All members of Sultana Projects will receive an invitation to
"Chestertown by Candlelight." Non-members may call the Sultana office

be made by September 12. The cost of the event is $150 per person, a
portion of which is tax-deductible.
