TWO HOUR PUBLIC SAILS ON SULTANA
Departing and returning from
Sultana’s home port of historic Chestertown (and occasionally other
ports around the Chesapeake),
Sultana’s two-hour public sails are a great way to sail the Chester
River onboard a traditional
schooner. Passengers are encouraged to help raise the sails, steer
using Sultana’s seven-foot long
tiller and explore the authentically reproduced crew’s quarters
below-decks.
2011 SCHEDULE OF TWO-HOUR SAILS ON SULTANA

New for 2011 - Themed Sails!
Ecology Sails
- During these sails,
Sultana will pull her 20-foot “otter trawl” net to collect fish and
crabs from the Chester River. This only takes a few minutes, but it can
be a great thing to see for children or anyone who is interested in
seeing the local marine life.
Music Sails
- These sails will feature
an informal performance by Chestertown’s own “Lions of Bluegrass.” You
will still enjoy all of the fun of a traditional sail on Sultana -
including setting sail and firing one of the schooner’s swivel guns but
will also get the special treat of hearing some great bluegrass as you
sail.
